A multi million euro investment into Athlone by communication giant Ericsson is a vote of confidence in the region for big business
That's according to the Minister for Enterprise, Peter Burke.
Ericsson announced a major new 200 million euro investment in their Athlone campus this morning.
The three year investment is supported by the IDA and will see the company's midland base grow its reputation for pioneering research and development.
The communication giant uses Athlone as its designated centre of excellence in Ireland, with the company based outside the town since 1974.
The new investment will help the local facility boost their development of and work with, high performing programmable networks.
Ericsson employ 1,300 people in Ireland, with the majority based in Athlone.
