Colin Dalton has regained his seat on Longford County Council following a Fine Gael Convention in North Longford this evening. Cllr Dalton took the seat of Paraic Brady who was voted into the Seanad in January, following a close vote in Aughnacliffe Community Centre. The Ballinalee man lost his seat in June in the 2024 local election by 4 votes to Fianna Fail's David Cassidy. The party convention was contested by Councillor Dalton, Senator Paraic Brady's brother Cian Brady and Granard's Kathleen Magahern. Councillor Dalton says his work will start immediately:
Senator Brady, who's seat was filled with the vote, say's he's disappointed for his brother but is looking forward to working with Councillor Dalton. He's hopeful his brother Cian Brady will consider running in the next local election in 2029:
