Boyle Town Regeneration Project to be officially opened this afternoon

Today's official opening ceremony is due to take place at half past three attended by Minister Humphreys and key stakeholders from the surrounding areas.

Rural and Community Development Minister Heather Humphreys will visit Boyle this afternoon for the official opening of the €3.4 million Boyle Town Regeneration Project.

The project was funded under the Rural Regeneration Development Fund and will provide a community, cultural and business hub in the former Royal Hotel.

The project on this prominent site in Boyle town is regarded as a hugely significant part of the town's regeneration.

The site was purchased by Roscommon County Council in 2017, and with funding under both the Town and Village Renewal Scheme and the Rural Recreation Development Fund secured in 2019 for its refurbishment.

Work began on the project is May of 2021 to completely refurbish the building into an exhibition space and enterprise centre.

The exterior area of the building has also been significantly enhanced to include an outdoor civic space and river promenade, aimed at linking the town centre to key tourism attractions using the river such as King House and Boyle Abbey.

The works were carried out by Cavan based company Elliott Properties Limited.
