A new CCTV system in Ballaghaderreen has assisted local Gardaí solve multiple incidents. In total, 26 cameras were installed across 15 strategic locations, all feeding into a large, secure cloud-based server. The system was delivered for €41,087. The project was driven by the Ballaghaderreen Town Team, working closely with ETI Security Systems Limited and local stakeholders.
It began in September 2024 with a detailed survey of existing cameras around the town. Businesses with public-facing systems were contacted, their equipment assessed, and - where needed - upgraded or replaced using Town Team funding. The footage isn't live-monitored, only Gardaí using a valid Pulse ID as part of an active investigation, can access it - with ETI Security acting as the data processor to support retrieval when needed. Local officers say the system has already proven its worth - describing it as a gamechanger for policing Ballaghaderreen. The entire system meets strict GDPR and Data Protection standards - ensuring privacy while improving community safety. While the network already covers much of the town, plans are in place to extend CCTV coverage even further.
