Almost 50 Shannonside people registered as homeless last month

Almost 50 homeless people were in emergency accommodation in the Shannonside region last month.

They include 16 in both Longford and Leitrim, and 15 in Roscommon.

Around the country, 14,760 people were registered as homeless in September - including more than 4,500 children.

Longford councillor Uruemu Adejinmi, from Fianna Fáil, says the new figures are worrying.
