The Director of Nursing at the Nightingale Nursing Home in Ballinasloe has paid tribute to the outpouring of help and concern from nurses and carers around the country.
Patrician McGowan was speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning following yesterday's revelation that the nursing home was in crisis due to a Covid outbreak, and not being able to source enough cover staff.
The issue was made public initially by Doctor Martin Daly and it was subsequently discussed in the Dail and made national headlines.
Patricia Mc Gowan says it's been a huge boost to receive so many offers of help and realise they're not on their own.
The Director of Nursing says that through the people who made contact yesterday, and the help from the HSE, they're now able to reassure people that there's a full roster until the regular staff come back, and residents are being well cared for.
