80 local children, with significant mental health issues, on waiting lists for over nine months

The HSE's Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services provides care to under-18s with moderate to severe mental health disorders.

Around 80 children in the Shannonside region, with significant mental health issues, have been languishing on a waiting list for over nine months.

The problem is worst in the Roscommon and Galway region.

New waiting-list data has been given to Sinn Féin TD Sorca Clarke.

It reveals 351 youngsters in Roscommon and Galway are waiting to be seen by the service.

A total of 50 have been waiting over nine months.

211 Under-18s in Leitrim and Sligo are on the waiting list, with over 30 waiting over nine months.

In the midlands, there are 214 on the waiting list, with over 40 waiting at least six months.
