Up to 120 new jobs could be on the way for county Longford.
Technimark, a multinational specialising in precision-made plastic components and packaging for sectors including healthcare, consumer products, and industrial manufacturing, has submitted plans to develop a major new facility at the former Eir depot in Templemichael Business Park.
The company purchased the site from Longford County Council and is seeking planning approval to establish a three-storey production hub.
According to planning documents, the proposed development would include a 9,545 sq m moulding plant designed to support the production of injection-moulded medical devices. The expansion is aimed at meeting rising demand from clients operating around the clock at Technimark’s existing Longford site, where approximately 147 people are already employed.
The company says additional cleanroom space is essential to accommodate the needs of its medical-device customers and to enable future business growth. In its submission, Technimark asked for the proposal to be viewed positively, noting the long-standing support of local authorities and the firm’s ongoing commitment to the region.
Technimark has steadily increased its investment in Ireland in recent years.
In 2022, the company committed €26 million to upgrade and expand its existing Longford facility to enhance capabilities in precision moulding, value-added assembly, and medical-device manufacturing.
That investment also saw the launch of the company’s first European Innovation Centre, backed by government support through IDA Ireland.
