New figures show that over one-thousand people are waiting for ophthalmology treatment in Roscommon
Figures released to Aontu by the Department of Health show a significant rise in the number of children and teens waiting for specialist eye care appointments in the last two years.
In December 2018 the number on the waiting list stood at 742, by 2019 this had risen to 938 and by last December the figure had reached 1,086.
No one is on waiting lists in Sligo-Leitrim or Longford-Westmeath according to the figures released to the party.
Aontú representative for Roscommon, James Hope, says the Shannonside Northern Sound region needs better investment in healthcare services and the current situation is unacceptable.
