Measles is a highly infectious disease that can cause serious complications, particularly in children under one year of age.

Passengers who travelled on a train from Dublin to Sligo last Friday evening may have been exposed to the virus.

The HSE has stated that members of the public travelling on the Dublin Connolly to Sligo Train on Friday evening the 28th of March may have been exposed.

Anyone who was travelling on the 115 Bus Éireann route between Dublin and Mullingar or Mullingar to Dublin between Tuesday, 30th of January and Monday, 5th of February may have been exposed to the virus.

A HSE Measles National Incident Management Team had already been established in response to a recent rise in measles cases in the UK and Europe.

A rise is the number of people infected with the disease in the UK and parts of Europe has raised concerns here.
