Forsa has organised the work-to-rule which affects all clerical and administrative staff in the health authority.

The motorist came to the attention of Gardaí as they noticed the car speeding during wet road conditions.

The proposal came from the bus service at the latest council meeting, where it was highlighted that the current pick up point for pupils was becoming unsafe.

The service is seen as a crucial means of transport for those travelling to hospital and other medical appointments across the country. Over 600 such trips have been made so far.

In total, there are 510 patients waiting on trolleys across the country today.

The committee also heard eight consultants earned over half a million euro per year - with one earning over 970-thousand euro.

Deputy Harkin said the scheme has so far saved the State over €111,000 in hospital and health transport.
