The GRETB has already submitted a proposal to SOLAS for a two and half acre site in the heart of Roscommon town.

Fine Gael Councillor Liam Callaghan believes recent break-ins in the Tulsk, Ballinagare and Frenchpark areas have been carried out by criminals targeting vacant properties.

This week saw Roscommon County Council seek Part 8 planning permission for the creation of two public parks, both including skating infrastructure.

The works at the well known site are being hailed as the first steps towards transforming the former Greyhound stadium into a major public amenity.

His comments came after concerns were raised by members of the public that the act has become a more regular sight in the town.

A decision on the project is due on the 14th of December.

The new restaurant at the Rosebank Retail Park on the Dublin Road will see at least 90 jobs created when it opens.

The works are due ahead of the replacement of the CT scanner.
