Strokestown landed the Connacht IFC title scoring a 4-11 to 14-point win over Mayo’s Kilmeena.
The Roscommon side were in control throughout, thanks to goals from Colin Compton and Shane McGinley inside the opening 20 minutes.
McGinley’s goal put Strokestown 2-5 to four points ahead on the 17th minute. Points from Kevin Finn (f) and Stephen Tighe and a McGinley two-pointer saw Strokestown lead 2-9 to eight points at half-time.
Whereas, Kilmeena had a strong wind advantage in the second-half and fought back well early on. However Stephen Tighe found the net on 48 minutes for Strokestown’s third goal.
Evan Moran fisted the ball to the net for Strokestown’s fourth goal, eight minutes later.
The Roscommon side sealed a 4-11 to 14-point win, 4-11 to 0-14.
