Stephen Poacher is set to continue as Leitrim manager after a recommendation of a two-year term.
However, Leitrim U20 manager Barry McWeeney has turned down the chance to stay in the role.
A statement posted on the Leitrim GAA website read; “Following last night’s Management Committee meeting, Leitrim GAA confirms approval for the reappointment of Steven Poacher as Senior Football Manager on a two-year term, subject to ratification at the next meeting of Leitrim GAA County Committee on September 8th”.
Poacher’s first year in charge of the Leitrim senior footballers saw a highly controversial decision to concede an Allianz League game to Fermanagh.
The decision was in part taken due to the Leitirm U20 side beginning their Connacht U20 campaign.
Poacher took charge of the team after Mickey Graham stepped down having not managed a game. Leitirm lost all five contested games in the Allianz League. Poacher registered his first win in the years final Tailteann Cup game with Tipperary.
