Leitrim’s eight point win over Tipperary wasn’t enough to see them through to the Tailteann Cup preliminary quarter-final
Leitrim missing out on score difference to Antrim as they recorded their first win of the year.
Tipperary started strongly with a two pointer through Cian Smith after six minutes. Leitrim responded with goals from the boot of Jack Flynn and Tom Prior.
A Barry McNulty point after 28 minutes ensured their lead was intact at half-time. Leitrim leading by five points, 2-2 to three points.
Riordan O’Rourke and Jack Flynn opened Leitrim’s second-half scoring. Either side of Tipperary points from Daithi Hogan and Cain Smith.
A third goal from Joe McGloin along with further points from Tom Pior, Jack Foley and James Rooney ensured Stephen Poacher's side held out for victory. Leitrim winning out 3-9 to 10-points.
The result saw Poacher's side finish third in group with a score difference of -21. Unfortunately this was the worst record of the four third placed teams.
Thus New York take Leitrim’s place in the preliminary quarter-final.
