Roscommon moved to second place in the Allianz League with a hard fought three-point win over Armagh.
The Rossies winning out 3-18 to 24 points at King & Moffatt Dr. Hyde Park. Indeed, the hosts fired out of the blocks with goals from Diarmuid Murtagh and Enda Smith inside the opening three minutes.
Whereas, two-pointers from Murtagh (2) and Daire Cregg followed as the Rossies moved towards a commanding 2-14 to 0-8 lead at half-time.
Enda Smith opened the second-half scoring straight from the throw-in. However, Armagh came back into the game. Tiernan Kelly, Greg McCabe, Oisin O’Neill brought back to a nine point lead.
An Andrew Murnin two-pointer brought Armagh back within seven. McQuillan found the net on 46 minutes, however Roscommon were saved as the lines man ruled it out for a breach.
Diarmuid Murtagh sent over a Roscommon point as they led 2-16 to 14 points. Keeper Aaron Brady moved Roscommon a further point ahead with a 45.
Murnin and McQullian sent over points before Roscommon replied through Daire Cregg. Paul Carey fisted the ball to the Armagh net to seal the win with nine minutes remaining.
Roscommon led 3-18 to 18 points. That was Roscommon’s final score of the game. Cian McConville sent over a couple of two-pointers but it wasn’t enough.
Roscommon scored a 3-18 to 24-point victory to move second in the division one table.
