Cian McPhillips setup a show down with Mark English as he strolled into the national 800m final at the national championships.
McPhillips won heat two in 1:52.58 ahead of Newcastle and District’s Patrick Sheridan who posted 1:53.16. The victory sealed progress to tomorrow’s final.
Whereas, English was a comfortable winner of heat one in 1:49.92 ahead of Mullingar Harriers Eoin Quinn in 1:51.17. It sets the scene for a big final tomorrow at 6:35pm.
Elsewhere, Longford’s Robin Og Murphy took sixth place in the 5,000m walk. The race was won by Waterford’s Kate Veale in 23:46.46.
Longford’s Aaron Kelly posted 25.71 seconds in the 200m heats. Whereas, Calum Corcoran of Athlone A.C posted a best of 1.80m in the high jump.
