Mayo are through to the Connacht Senior Football semi-finals after a close call with Sligo in McHale Park.
Ryan O'Donoghue and Aidan O'Shea's goals helped the beaten league finalists to overcome Sligo 2-20 to 2-17. Kevin McStay’s side looked odds on for victory. However, two late two pointers from Alan McLaughlin made it a three-point game.
However, Mayo had done enough and will play Leitrim on Easter Saturday, April 19 in the Connacht semi-final.
Roscommon await the winner of New York and Galway in the Connacht semi-final.
Elsewhere, Monaghan will face Donegal in the Ulster senior football semi-final after Donegal saw off Derry 1-25 to 1-15 at Ballybofey.
Daire Ó Baoill top scored for Donegal with one goal and two two-pointers and Patrick McBrearty sent over seven-points. Donegal now setup a quarter-final meeting with Monaghan on April 20.
Leinster Championship
Longford led by a point with a minute of injury time remaining at the end of normal time. However, before Padraig O’Toole’s last gasp point sent the game to extra-time.
Wicklow going onto win 2-23 to 1-19.
Meanwhile, Meath will host Division three champions Offaly in the quarter-finals next weekend. Ruairi Kinsella scored 1-5 from play as the Royals eased to a 14-point win against Carlow in Navan.
On Saturday evening, Laois scored a 2-21 to 2-11 win over Wexford in the opening Leinster championship game. Laois will face Louth in the quarter-final next Sunday.
While, Cork and Tipperary have progressed into the Munster Championship semi-finals. Cork setup a semi-final meet with Kerry after a 24 point to 13 win over Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds.
While, Tipperary got the better of Waterford by 1-22 to 1-19 in Thurles. Tipperary will meet Clare in the semi-finals.
Tailteann Cup
Seven teams have now been confirmed for the 2025 Tailteann Cup after the weekend’s games.
Longford, London and Waterford will all be in pot four for the Tailteann Cup draw. Whereas, Carlow, Limerick, Wexford and Sligo await other results before confirmation of their seeding.
