A five point win over Leitrim in Croke Park seen Diarmuid Cahills side claim the Lory Meagher Cup.
The Longford side came back from behind to secure a five point win in Croke Park.
James McNabola got the opening score of the contest for Leitrim after a minute of play.
Longford responded strongly with three unanswered points in four minutes through Paddy Lynam, Joe Rabbitt and Reuben Murray.
Maitui O Donohue carried much of the threat for Longford; in the remainder of the first-half with three points from play.
Colm Canning carried the fight for Leitrim with four points as his side took a two point lead to the break. At half-time Leitrim led, 10-points to six.
Paul Mulligan got Leitrim’s opening two scores of the half as the maintained their lead. However, on 51 minutes the pendulum swung as Rueben Murray raised the green flag for Longford as they moved into a one point lead.
Martin Farrell, Michael Mulcahy and Paddy Lynam extended the Longford lead as they found the target as Leitrim were struggling to regain a foothold in the contest.
Leitrim did get a goal of their own when Philip Burgess found the back of the Longford net on 70 minutes.
However, it came as little more than consolation as Longford celebrated at full-time. Longford running out five point winners, 1-18 to 1-13.
