Leitrim ladies prove too strong for Fermanagh

Leitrim ran out eight point winners in Ederney this afternoon.

Two goals in each half paving the way for an impressive Leitrim victory over Fermanagh.

Leitrim got off to a strong start. Kate Gormely hit the back of the Fermanagh net twice inside the opening five minutes.

Sarah Britton got a goal for the hosts after 16 minutes. However, Leitrim kept their noses in front taking a one point lead to the break, 2-4 to 1-6.

Leah Fox got Leitrim’s third goal of the contest after 31 minutes before their fourth goal arrived on 50 minutes.

Points from Muireann Devaney kept the Leitrim lead intact with a Siomha Quinn point bringing proceedings to a close, securing the victory for Leitrim.

Leitrim booked a home quarter-final place after running out eight point winners, 4-12 to 1-13.

Meanwhile, in the TG4 All-Ireland Junior Championship Offaly got the better of Longford 1-22 to 3-2.
