Trial events for return of supporters reported to begin in July

The minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has said he is optimistic we will see some fans at the All-Ireland senior hurling final in August.

All sports matches are still being played behind closed doors at present with Leinster rugby’s proposed test event for May being rejected.

Taoiseach Michael Martin had previously indicated that supporters could be back by July, dependent on the public health environment.

It is rumoured that a test event will take place in July at Tallaght Stadium for a Shamrock Rovers league of Ireland game.

English premier league games welcomed back supporters on Tuesday and Wednesday for the first time since March 2020.
