Dublin produced a commanding performance to bounce back with Allianz league campaign.
The Dubs were in control for long stretches and, playing with the aid of the wind in the opening half, laid the foundations for victory with a dominant first-half display.
Paddy Small opened the scoring inside four minutes, and Dublin quickly found their rhythm. A two-pointer followed by another score moved the Dubs four points clear early on. Indeed, Luke Breathnach rattled the net to put real daylight between the sides.
Sean Bulger added a two-pointer as Dublin stretched nine points ahead. Two further two-point efforts underlined their control as they “bossed it in the Hyde”.
By the 24th minute, Roscommon were still searching for their first score before Robert Heneghan finally opened their account, though they still trailed by 15 at that stage.
Daire Cregg gave the home support something to cheer about when he followed in for a goal on 27 minutes.
However, Dublin responded through Paddy Small to leave the half-time score; Roscommon 1-1 Dublin 1-14.
However, any hopes of a Roscommon resurgence were quickly dampened after the restart. Niall Scully converted a free following a breach, while Senan O’Brien extended the gap to 15-points by the 40th minute.
Roscommon did manage a two-pointer from Diarmuid Murtagh, but Dublin continued to tag on scores with impressive efficiency.
Dylan Ruane struck Roscommon’s second goal in the 48th minute to reduce the deficit, and points from Daire Cregg and Callum Keogh followed. However, the damage had long been done.
Ger Brennan’s side looked more like the Dublin of old as they were able to ruin the clock down to and claim victory, 1-21 to 2-7.
