Carrickedmond gave Longford quarter-final qualification a huge boost after a dominant display and victory over Mostrim in Keenan Park.
After an even start to the game with both sides exchanging blows; a Carrickedmond goal inside the first-quarter game shifted the momentum.
Eugene McCormack’s side followed this up with the next four scores; Liam Glennon, Brian Mulvey and Eoghan McCormack all getting in on the act.
James Connell fisted over a much-needed score for Mostrim but the relief was short lived. Aiden McGuire sold a dummy before slotting the ball past Caolan Hussey.
Ronan Courtney and Jack Belton got the last two scores of the half for Mostrim. However, they found themselves 2-10 to 0-5 down at the interval.
After the sides exchanged a couple of scores at the beginning of the second-half, it was an Eoghan McCormack goal on 38 minutes that cemented a seemingly unassailable lead.
Mostrim didn’t let their heads drop as Shane Kiernan hit a lovely score off the outside of the boot. following a Fintan Coyle two-pointer.
However there was still time for two more Carrickedmond goals. Cormac Mulvey first of all lobbing the ball over Hussey, before McGuire rounded the Mostrim goalkeeper before burying it.
Carrickedmond scoring a 5-14 to 10 point win. Elsewhere, Clonguish grabbed a last gasp win over Abbeylara.
