It comes as a Roscommon based youth mental health charity reported a 144 percent increase in demand for their online services in 2021.

World Mental Health Day is being held today with the aim to promote discussion around individual's mental health issues.

It comes as a Roscommon based youth mental health charity reported a 144 percent increase in demand for their online services in 2021.

Director of Communications at Jigsaw, Mike Mansfield says that the increase in demand, while shocking, is a positive sign that people are seeking help.

He also explains that the stigma around mental health is certainly improving.

"We have kids talking to their mates about mental health. That's really important. We have days like today that mark it and see the conversation being open. Certainly I think the stigma is reducing but there's still a way to go, particularly in what we call 'marginalised groups' but buy and large from what we're seeing things aren't getting better".
