A Longford senator is calling for stricter rules on animal euthanasia - after a case in Co Roscommon last weekend.
Dozens of cows were destroyed on a farm, after enforcement action by the Department of Agriculture.
It's understood the operation took place as a result of animal-welfare concerns at the farm.
Senator Paraic Brady raised the case in the Seanad this week:
