A 79-year-old man has been sentenced to three years in prison for the historic abuse of his sister.
Seán Monaghan of The Harbour, Marketpoint, Mullingar in Westmeath had pleaded guilty to the rape and indecent assault of Julie Fogarty on dates in 1962 and 1963.
At his sentence hearing today, the court heard Ms Fogarty experiences "repeated flashbacks" and " wakes up crying in the night still".
