Families in Roscommon who find themselves the victims of drug intimidation are being encouraged to seek support.
The message comes from the Co-Ordinator of the Western Region Drug and Alcohol Task Force Michéal Durcan.
He says drug addiction is now prevalent in all areas with many people getting caught up in debt, not only having a detrimental impact on the user but also the mental and physical wellbeing of their family members.
In response the local taskforce has implemented a number of family support services across the region and in Roscommon.
Michéal says anyone in this situation should come forward.
''We work in partnership with An Garda Siochana, so our family support worker in Roscommon is Noreen Burke and then the nominated drug inspector for Roscommon is Detective Inspector Frank Finn. Together they work in partnership offering people and victims of drug related intimidation to go to services. From the taskforce perspective the family support worker will try to support them, the greater family and look at the problems pertaining and how best to find support.''
