Two men have appeared in court following an attempted robbery of a taxi driver outside Athlone on Wednesday evening.
It's alleged two males entered the vehicle at 9pm in the town before directing it to drive onto the motorway before stopping close to Farnagh near Moate.
The victim, a man in his 60's received minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.

The two men, in their 20s and 30s have been charged in connection with the robbery.
They appeared before a sitting of Athlone District Court this morning.
