Tributes are pouring in for the late Derek Cobbe, remembered as a man who "revolutionised regional newspapers."
Formerly of Rialto, Dublin, he was the former editor of the Longford Leader and owner of the Longford News.
Cobbe was renowned locally and nationally for his 'Uncle Larry' children's column, which became one of the longest running children's pages in a newspaper.
He was also a consultant hypnotherapist and managed two Irish circus families.
Longford senator Joe Flaherty says he leaves a significant legacy behind:
Derek Grante Cobbe will be removed to St John's Church, Battery Road, Longford this evening arriving at half past seven.
His funeral service will take place tomorrow at 12 noon, with burial afterwards in St Paul's Church Cemetery, in Newtownforbes.
