It comes as the country’s prisons are overcrowded, with almost 4,900 inmates behind bars – almost 400 more than capacity.

Those in attendance said they had been left without electricity for a number of days due to fallen forestry.

Almost 80 premises were left without power last weekend due to the most recent fault following Storm Kathleen.
