Three larger towns in the Shannonside Northern Sound region are now eligible for funding for the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
Longford, Cavan and Athlone, all with populations over 10,000 people as per the 2016 census, are now included in an expanded programme for Covid-related measures.
The number of applications local authorities can submit for smaller towns and villages under the scheme is also being increased from six to ten.

Communities must submit their applications through by August 28th.
