A new study has found the three counties in the Shannonside region among the safest to raise a family. Roscommon came out on top in Long and Co's findings. The Galway-based estate agent and auctioneer looked at several criteria, including population, the number of people per crime reported and the number of Gardaí available. Leitrim and Longford, meanwhile, were also included in the top ten. Founder of Long and Co, Ronán Long says the figures represent a growing number returning to the west of Ireland:
