Submissions on the new plans for the Athlone to Galway greenway will still be accepted this week.

RPS from Galway, who were appointed earlier this year were given a blank canvas to define a project study area, and identify potential route corridors to complete the 270km car-free corridor

between Galway and Dublin, creating the opportunity for week-long cycling holidays.

More than 500 people attended a series of five public information events held last month on the project

While today was set as the end of the public consultation peropid for the scheme, project engineers say they will include any input received this week from members of the public.

Acing Senior Executive Engineer with Roscommon County Council Annemarie Johnston says the feedback so far has been impressive.
