The Chairman of St Brigid's GAA Club in Kiltoom says the massive response to their fundraising appeal for refurbishment since last year has exceeded all expectations.
Michael McDonnell has been commenting on the support for the club in the wake of official approval this week from Croke Park to allow a major upgrade of the clubs facilities.
While Leader had given over €350,000 towards the project the club also found itself having to come up with a contribution of €120,000 in the midst of the pandemic last year.
Borrowing part of the contribution wasn't an option because of the uncertainly surrounding funding for the GAA so the club began a "Buy a Brick" campaign which has raised well over the €120,000.
Chairman Michael McDonnell says they are delighted with the success of the campaign so far which is still running and they now hope to be able to begin construction in the summer of this year.
