A new parish priest has been appointed for Ballinameen and Breedogue in north Roscommon.
The announcement has been made by the Bishop of Achonry and Elphin.
Fr Alan Conway is currently the parish priest of the Croghan, Drumlion and Cortober in north Roscommon.
He will now also be in charge of the parish of Ballinameen and Breedogue nearby, after his predecessor, Fr Larry Ebuk, was reassigned to be the parish priest of Frenchpark and Fairymount.
It means Fr Conway will now have responsibility for five churches, but he will have a curate working with him.
Fr John Mahony will live in the parochial house in Ballinameen and will help Fr Conway running the two parishes.
Bishop Kevin Doran says, for the time being at least, the two parishes will remain distinct, with their own pastoral and finance councils.
Bishop Doran says it is becoming more challenging all the time to find priests to fill vacancies in our parishes.
