Sligo-Leitrim TD Marc MacSharry says he stands by his comments that some public servants have used remote working as a result of Covid-19 restrictions as cover for doing less work.
While praising front line workers and those within the Department of Social Protection in a debate on the social welfare this week, the Fianna Fail representative referred to instances where some public servants seemed to be using the pandemic to catch up on box sets.
Deputy Mc Sharry has been called upon to withdraw the remark by his constituency colleague and Sinn Fein Deputy Martin Kenny, who says it is a sweeping generalisation, which is very unfair and just not true.
