Longford Westmeath Deputy Sorca Clarke says the issue of the lack of vital services for children with Down Syndrome has to be made a priority across the country.
Children with the condition, and other children with different issues, have been left without services including speech therapy, physical therapy, and occupational therapy, since March of this year.
HSE staff who had provided the services were taken away to work on Covid testing and contact tracing over the last nine months.
While Deputy Clarke was told in the Dail this week that the Springfield centre in Mullingar would be re-opening next week, parents have since been told that it will only operate at a capacity of about 20%.
The Sinn Fein TD says the matter is something that needs to be shouted about at a national level, and the children involved shouldn't have to tolerate this neglect.
