The service says not enough support is being given to provide counselling for the huge numbers who need it

A Shannonside cancer support service says it's very important that GPs return to seeing patients in person once the threat of Covid 19 abates.

Jacqueline Daly, Director of Services at the East Galway and Midlands Cancer Support Centre in Ballinasloe says the pandemic has brought huge anxiety to many former cancer patients as well as those still fighting the disease. The service says not enough support is being given to provide counselling for the huge numbers who need it, for as long as they need it.

She says it's important that people are allowed being someone into a consultation for results of tests or scans.
Jacqueline says that in person appointments at GPs is critical for people who might have discovered a symptom of serious illness.
