Seven arrested in Cavan in connection with extortion and blackmail plot

Seven people have been arrested in connection to a potential blackmail or extortion plot in county Cavan.

Four cars were stopped and searched following a tip-off in the area.

A gun and ammunition, as well as a number of balaclavas were found in the vehicles.

All seven men were arrested following the searches and taken to garda stations in Ballyconnell and Cavan.
