The CEO of the Saolta group of hospitals in the west says it's not ideal that there aren't integrated systems between GPs and the HSE vaccination programmes.
Tony Canavan is acknowledging that GPs are continuing to vaccinate different groups despite vaccination centres also providing the jab to the same cohorts.
It's understood that GPs are receiving a payment of up to 100 euro per vaccine delivered and many people are being contacted directly by their local practice while also eligible for their local mass vaccination centre.
This has led to many 'no shows' at the centres.
Tony Canavan says while there is overlap, they are making provisions within their system.
