Leitrim businessman Joe Dolan says hotels outside the bigger cities will see a faster recovery in the aftermath of the Covid crisis as opposed to the larger cities.
The former President of the Irish Hotels Federation says while hotels in Dublin, Galway and other areas rely heavily on overseas tourism, those in the more rural areas will see a recovery much sooner in their numbers due to domestic tourism and travel.
The Leitrim man who now serves on tourism boards says it's been a very difficult time for the sector and while supports from government have helped keep things afloat for many, there will also be some businesses that don't recover.
He says he'd like to think that the sector will be moving to re-opening fully by some time in June and will be able to cater to the demand for staycations and other business:
