A 95 year old Roscommon woman is celebrating her status as a published author today with the launch of her new book.
Brigid Kavanagh, who now lives in Dublin, has written a memoir of her life over the last 95 years, which began on this day in 1925.
The Roscommon native has chronicled her early life in her home county, life in post-World War 2 London and returning to Dublin to start a family.
According to Brigid, she uses writing as a way to express herself, with her dream being to publish her own book.
While she attempted to release a book in the 1980s she was unsuccessful and had given up on the idea.
The book which is available to buy locally in Dublin and on Facebook, was put together with the help of her sons Declan and Sean.
The newly published author says the interesting characters around Roscommon and the wider region inspired her to write the book.
