Roscommon pharmacist urges those with chronic illnesses to consider flu vaccine

There was no flu recorded in hospitals last year, but there is growing concern over a spread of the virus this winter.

At risk groups must consider getting the flu vaccine ahead of the winter season according to a Roscommon pharmacist.

The HSE says the country's hospitals will be able to manage both Covid-19 and the Flu this year.

There were no recorded cases of the flu in Irish hospitals last year, with medical experts agreeing it was thanks in major part to the pandemic hygiene measures.

Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, pharmacist Ollie McGuinness from Total Health Pharmacy Roscommon says people can do their part to keep hospitals clear this winter.

The Roscommon pharmacist says that anyone over 65, with a chronic illness or in a healthcare/carer position should strongly consider getting the flu jab:
