Roscommon councillor won't be seeking re-election

He said growing frustration around the political system was one of the reasons he would not contest the June elections.

A Roscommon councillor has announced he will not be seeking re-election in this year's local elections. Independent councillor Donal Kilduff said his decision was due to personal and political reasons. A son of former councillor Paddy Kilduff, he was first elected in the Athlone Municipal District in 2019.

He said growing frustration around the political system was one of the reasons he would not contest the June elections. The outgoing councillor thanked all those who have supported him in his political career. Speaking to Shannonside News, Cllr Kilduff said his decision would allow him spend more time with family and running his business:
