A local school meals provider says it is vital that all students receive a hot meal.
It comes as Social Protection Minister Dara Calleary announced a roll-out of the Hot School Meals Programme in 713 primary schools starting from today.
This includes 18 primary schools in Co Roscommon, 5 in Co Leitrim, and three in Co Longford.
The Hot School Meals Programme was initially introduced as a pilot of 30 schools but has now extended to almost 3,000 schools across the country.
