A decision by Longford County Council to grant planning permission for the extension of the Dunáras estate in Ballymahon by a further 37 houses has been appealed to An Bord Pleanála.
The appeal has been lodged by the Dunaras Resident's Association as well as local land owners Sean Clancy and Matthew Daly.
This is the third planning application that has been submitted in recent years to further develop the Dun Áras estate off the Ballymulvey Road - two other applications were ultimately refused by An Bord Pleanála.
However, this application involves an extra 1.3 acres of space for an additional number of units and places a greater emphasis on pedestrian and cycle ways, via nearby Marion Terrace.
Issues raised by objectors include concerns about pedestrian and cycle way access to Main Street in Ballymahon, traffic management on the Ballymulvey Road, insufficient drainage and sewage facilities and the development's proximity to Ballymahon Mart and its wash down facilities.
An Bord Pleanála will accept submissions from interested parties until September 8th before making their decision on the matter by December 14th.
