A local Irish language teacher has expressed concerns over the growing number students exempt from studying the language.

A new report has found that more than 73 thousand students were during the 2024-2025 school year.

Conradh na Gaeilge's report says it's a worsening crisis within the education system and sets out recommendations to achieve fair inclusion for all students.

Former Leitrim county librarian Seán Ó Súilleabháin teaches Irish classes in the county Leitrim area.
