Longford council has appointed consultants to prepare a regeneration strategy for Granard.
The strategy will look at how to develop the most effective layout and design of public and private spaces, as well as looking at land uses, tourism potential and traffic management.
The main components that will be considered include the tourism and economic potential of the town, particularly in relation to the forthcoming flagship tourism attraction at Granard Motte.
The council says the vision for Granard is as a re-imagined, unique town centre and tourism hub acting as a key service provider in north Longford , within Irelands Hidden Heartlands.
