Sunday's episode of the popular soap has upset a Kerry priest

A Kerry priest has questioned if Catholics should pay their TV licence, following a scene in Fair City at the weekend. It's claimed the scene was disrespectful to the Catholic faith.

Character Ger Lynch approached Fr Liam Plunkett to discuss a night they shared when they were teenagers, and ended up with a child.

Fr Kevin McNamara from the parish of Moyvane claims that it is an 'inaccurate' portrayal of how confession works.

Also in the scene, alcohol is consumed under the seal of confession as while at one stage Ger Lynch, played by Tina Kelleher, is smoking. He added that it's not the first time disrespect was shown to the Catholic faith, saying he felt 'hurt' by the scene.
