Pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk is planning job cuts at its Irish operations. The maker of Ozempic and Wegovy confirmed a global workforce reduction of around nine thousand but have not shared the amount of planned cuts to its Irish branch. However, the Westmeath Independent is reporting staff at the Athlone facility received notification of 75 possible job losses.
The Department of Enterprise confirmed it received notification of the redundancies 20 days ago. Novo Nordisk say the changes will allow its teams to "work more efficiently" and focus on "driving innovation and reaching many more patients."
